So right now I am done with the Portuguese study part of my trip which was the 2 months in Piracicaba and now I am traveling. I am attempting to split my time 50:50 between CouchSurfing and hostels. Florianópolis the island is absolutely stunning in terms of physical beauty and charm. It has lagoons, mountains, beaches, and fishing villages. Also, prior to this week I was unaware that Brazil has penguins, but it does. They are here in Florianópolis. The locals say they are lost and got caught in the wrong current and will die shortly due to starvation. So that´s rad.
My trip will continue south from Florianópolis to Porto Alegre, Montevideo, and end in Buenos Aires. Despite Brazil´s image, the south get´s quite cold in the winter and can be freezing overnight. Unfortunately, I am staring down the last month of travels before I return to study / work. The good news is that everyone I have talked to that knows about Deloitte has said it´s an awesome company to work for. Also, Deloitte has 13 offices located throughout Brazil including Rio, São Paulo, Curitiba, and Porto Alegre. That´s a few years off though.
I´ve had the intention of doing a post about Brazilian slang and the key differences between Portuguese and Spanish, so we´ll see if that ends up getting written or not. Getting sick of computer so more later. Um abraço.
