Well, I had been somewhat against blogging ever since I read two articles from stuffwhitepeoplelike.com (#19 traveling http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2008/01/23/19-travelling/ and #120 http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2009/01/11/120-taking-a-year-off/), but after briefly browsing through my old posts, I realized that a lot of my trip will be forgotten if it isn´t documented in some way. That list is mostly for me, but I think I will post more frequently on Brazil that other people may find interesting. One example is that when you go into many Brazilian restaurant they will hand you a little piece of paper with everything on the menu and little tick marks. Whenever you order something the water will tick off whatever you ordered, and then when you are ready to leave, you simply go to the cash register with you piece of paper. If, however, you lose your piece of paper, you will be charged an absurd amount that is usually around $250 as if you had ordered the most expensive everything on the menu.

Interestingly, Brazil is - along with Argentina - a basketball power on the international stage. I guess it's just not that popular on the grassroots level.
