Just How Bad Is Palin?
I hate to get political but some of this stuff is too funny to pass up... also quite disturbingly sad. First Palin's political experience as the Mayor of Wasilla (a town in Alaska of 6,500 citizens).
"Shortly after taking office in October 1996, Palin eliminated the position of museum director and asked for updated resumes and resignation letters from top officials, including the police chief, public works director, finance director and librarian. Palin stated this request was to find out their intentions and whether they supported her.She temporarily required department heads to get her approval before talking to reporters, saying that they first needed to become acquainted with her administration's policies."
"According to city librarian Mary Ellen Emmons, Palin inquired in October 1996 as to whether Emmons would object to library censorship. Palin later spoke publicly about the issue, saying she had no particular books or other material in mind for removal. No books were removed from the library."
"Four months later, in January 1997, Palin fired Emmons and Police Chief Irl Stambaugh, stating that she did not feel they fully supported her efforts to govern the city."
"Despite a turbulent first year in office, Palin gained broad favor with Wasilla voters. She kept a jar with the names of Wasilla residents on her desk, and once a week she pulled a name from it and picked up the phone; she would ask: "How's the city doing?"
Ok, so she got some pretty good experience from being mayor. She shaved enormous city expenses by merging the city library with the city's museum. She's a true visionary. But how did she get to such a prestigious position, well let's look at her education and rearing. Raised in Wasilla she went on to achieve great things at Hawaii Pacific College, Northern Idaho College, University of Idaho, and Matanuska Sustina College as a communication/journalism major. She was also the second runner up in Miss Alaksa (aka third). She said her dreams were to become a tv anchor. They say that UW's rejects go to WSU, well, you know where WSU's rejects go, University of Idaho. But seriously, it's a third tier school. I would tell you it's exact ranking but I couldn't find it because most Rankings don't even bother with it.
Anyway, after college she got unexpectedly knocked up and had a shotgun wedding and eloped to Alaska. Her 18 year old daughter is pregnant too, so it appears she doesn't have too high of a learning curve.
Back to her political career: In 2006 , after a few years in limbo after being Mayor of Wasilla, Palin was successfully elected governor of Alaska where I am sure she gained great experience as the commander and chief of the nation's 47th most populous state for 20 months before being named the Vice Presidential candidate for the GOP. She expanded her worldliness in 2006 when she first got her passport for the very first time so that she could travel abroad. When questioned about her international experience she cited Alaska's proximity to Russia and Canada I guess implying experience by osmosis. If you don't believe me the video is here, actually watch it anyway:

Because think about it, McCain is 72 which is close to the American white male life expectancy of 75.4 years. Let's just say his chances of dying during his term are 33%, that means the most powerful country in the world has a 1 in 3 chance of being led by the third place Miss Alaska, Hockey Mom who graduated from University of Idaho as a communication major. It would be like a bad movie, but we'd be trapped in it and the rest of the world would be laughing at us. Sure, it'd be a hilarious four years of SNL skits but at what cost? On one hand this is a huge boost to the democrats, but on the other hand if the republicans win we are totally fucked.
She is reported as saying that "dinosaurs and humans walked the Earth at the same time" according to an article by the Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-palinreligion28-2008sep28,0,3643718.story?track=rss). Are you KIDDING? As Palin would say, "It makes me ill."
Here is part of the transcript from here first interview with ABC's Charles Gibson:
CHARLES GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?
PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.
GIBSON: Do you favor putting Georgia and Ukraine into NATO?
PALIN: Ukraine yes and Georgia, Putin thinks otherwise obviously he thinks otherwise.
GIBSON: And under the NATO treaty wouldn’t we then have to go to war if Russian went into Georgia?
PALIN: Perhaps so!

Sarah Palin had to write "new-clear" in one of her speeches to make sure she pronounced "nuclear" correctly: only watch the first minute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp63LZB265E&feature=related
Her first interview with ABC with Charles Gibson, or as she incessantly calls him "Charlie," where she get's stumped on a question about the Bush Doctrine and foreign policy. http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=uRHkYN3hXkw&feature=related "Charlie"
She reminds me of somebody.... http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww

A comment about Palin on Youtube:"I'm a woman and I agree that the glass ceiling must be broken. But please - not at the expense of the country. This woman is completely uneducated and uninformed. I'm not joking. If McCain and Palin get in, esp if something happens to McCain, this country will be third world within 2 years. Let's wait for the right woman, not just any woman. We're smarter than that."
I have too many examples I can't even include all of them.
So where does this leave us: "Palin was reported to be preparing intensively for her upcoming debate with Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee Joe Biden; some Republicans have suggested that Palin's performance in the interviews may benefit her in the debate by lowering expectations." Honestly I can't wait for Palin to flop in her debate Thursday. It's scary she's gotten this far, but I hope that it ends Thursday. It you don't get the picture at first, think about it for a second.
Excuse me, I think I'm going to go throw-up.
